How do safety temperatures work?

For units with a thermostat connected to Ambient, Ambient monitors for ambient temperatures above or below the safety temperature settings. Property managers can control safety temperature settings using the manager dashboard.

If Ambient detects an extreme temperature, we automatically adjust the unit’s thermostat mode and setpoint:

• If the ambient temperature falls below the low temperature limit, Ambient changes the mode to heat and the heat setpoint to the low temperature limit.
• If the ambient temperature climbs above the high temperature limit, Ambient changes mode to cool and the cool setpoint to the high temperature limit.

  Note: Ambient is not able to monitor and control the temperature in units with Nest thermostats.
